The collection consists of eleven items: mimeographed copy of Duncan's curriculum vitae, 1 Aug. 1969, including personal information and a bibliography; one mimeographed copy of The Sociology of Literature, circa 1969, an essay written for the International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences; reprint copy of an article published in Modern Sociological Theory, 1957, titled, Sociology of Art, Literature and Music: Social Contexts of Symbolic Experience; copy of talk given in 1954 titled Louis H. Sullivan, Prophet of a New World Architecture; outline of Duncan's sociological theory called The Study of Society, 1964 version; also, three offprints of articles by Duncan, including Simmel's Image of Society, The Uses and Misuses of Max Weber's Types of Legitimation in American Sociology, and The Development of Durkheim's Concept of Ritual and the Problem of Social Disrelationships; offprint review by Paul E. Kelly titled Sociology, a New Master Conceptual Scheme, covering Duncan's book, Symbols in Society; photocopied review of Duncan's Communication and Social Order, published in The American Journal of Sociology, March 1963, by Norman Rudich; and a mimeographed copy of Kenneth Burke's essay, "Fact, Inference, and Proof in the Analysis of Literary Symbolism," published in Symbols and Values: An Initial Study (1954).
